Born and raised from a musical family…ÉTÚ-BMÍK adds different elements to her music with a touch of her Tanzanian and Trinidadian roots. She is a singer/songwriter/guitarist/humanitarian now living in America that successfully blends URBAN, REGGAE, AFRO RHYTHMS, JAZZ FUSION, and POP RHYTHMS into a fresh potpourri of scintillating, hypnotizing sounds that breathe new life on the music scene. ÉTÚ-BMÍK has a unique style of her own with her multinational music creations that’s also expressed in her movements.


ÉTÚ-BMÍK is a vibrant performer who totally takes command on stage. Additionally, she writes, plays guitar and sings powerful songs that ring true to the joy and tribulations of all people, all races, in all nations. ÉTÚ-BMÍK is not only a strong singer/songwriter/guitarist, but also a true linguist. She sings in English, her native Swahili, and Norwegian.


The fact that ÉTÚ-BMÍK finished her primary education in Norway has allowed her to pick up languages very easily. She also toured the European music scene, playing Club sets, Churches, and local Coffee houses.


While in college, ÉTÚ-BMÍK formed a band called The Freedom Tribe. The group was nominated for best pop reggae band of the year. After leaving college, ÉTÚ-BMÍK recorded her first album entitled “International Madness" featuring a distinctive blend of danceable reggae / Afro-beats and soulful ballads. Her unique style of Reggae, World Beat, and Pop gives her one of a kind sound, worldwide appeal. ÉTÚ-BMÍK began touring Europe, Africa and the United States opening for such acts as Ziggy Marley & the Melody Makers, Wailing Souls, Burning Spear, the late Lucky Dube and many other well-known artists.


She then headlined The Bob Marley Festival Tour which hosted 26 cities across the U.S., Hawaii, Canada and Holland. ÉTÚ-BMÍK has had the opportunity to sing and visit Tanzania Maasai Women Art Organization, where they truly appreciated the song entitled “Twende Shuleni” (Let’s go to school). It’s a community that finally recognizes the importance of school education, especially for girls. A mini tour to South Africa, Uganda, Kenya, Tanzania and Zanzibar promoting her latest single GIRLS/GIRLS was a successfully one. 


Her band is made up of some excellent local and international musicians that bring excitement and spontaneity to any special event. On lead guitar-Gabriel Radan, Drums/Percussions-Gary Grier, Bass-Dean Irwin, Guitar-David Connors and Keys-Neal Boyke.


In the Triangle (North Carolina), ÉTÚ-BMÍK has played at Apex Nature Park Amphitheater, Lazy Pirate Island Sports Grill (Carolina Beach), Cary Theater, Yancey's, Six String Cafe' & Music Hall, Hayti Heritage Center, Bullfeather's, First Night Raleigh, Artsplosure Raleigh, BimbeFest, CenterFest, EnoFest, Cat's Cradle, Local 506, Berkeley Cafe, Patio Loco, Abyssinia, Weaver Street Market, Cafe Dradle, Charlie Brownz (Wilmington), Safari International(Greensboro), Mojo's (Charlotte), Expressions, Hideaway (Greensville, NC), Asheville Music Zone (Ashville), Jakes Road House (Decatur, Georgia) and many more.


Her new CD entitled "ALWAYS" is scheduled to be released this year.
